WILLISTON, N.D. — Acme Tools will open a new store here in late August, its fifth store in the state.

Twelve employees have been hired for the new Williston store, and the company has plans to add as many as a dozen more jobs when the store opens.

“We are excited about the quality of employees we have gotten so far,” Kuhlman said.

Acme Tools is headquartered in Grand Forks and employs 400 workers companywide.

The store, near the intersection of U.S. Highway 2 and U.S. Highway 85, will feature a showroom, warehouse and office space in the 20,000-square-foot building. Among other general home improvement and construction equipment, the store will feature products geared toward the companies that have taken root in the Bakken area.

“Our new store features tools and equipment to support the burgeoning building and construction industry in the area and products for the oil and gas industry to support companies exploring and producing in the Bakken,” Kuhlman said.

The new Williston store brings Acme Tools’ total to five stores in North Dakota. The others are in Bismarck, Fargo and Minot.

“Northwest North Dakota and northeast Montana are important and growing markets for Acme Tools,” Kuhlman said. “We needed to expand to better serve our existing customers from around the state that are working in the Williston area and new customers and companies moving to the region.”

Company officials have announced that Coleman Baird will be the general manager of the new site.

Baird comes to Acme Tools with seven years of sales and management experience. He previously was a location manager for an electrical distributor also located in Williston.

“We are really excited to have him on board,” said Vice President of Corporate Operations Steve Kuhlman.

Acme Tools is celebrating its 65th anniversary this year.
